Sector: Dyeing & Finishing
Contact person: Marco Aletti, Ezio Aletti, Oscar Limonta, Rino D'Amato
Web site: www.sueding.com
Show focus: Special suede finishing line, including endless band buffing (sueding)
machine and air jets dust-removing machine. The sueding machine can be used
either for plain buffing or for exclusive pattern buffing on a wide range
of materials, including fabric, denim, cotton, micro-fibers, synthetic leather,
nonwoven, etc.
The heart of the line is the buffing machine, the only one using the endless
band buffing system, according to the company. Thanks to its special features,
the buffing machine can be used for traditional suede finish with many different
types of finishes. The operator can easily change the buffing paper and can
use any grit or type of abrasive paper, hence getting different sueding effects,
Aletti said. It can be used also for the special "pattern buffing."
This last type of finish is something completely new because it allows the
transfer of many types of design on the buffed product only by means of the
abrasion of the surface of the product. The product is held by a special pattern
roller that pulls the product towards the buffing paper.
The air jets dust-removing is among the most advanced cleaning tools available
to remove the dirt and the dust from the buffed product, Aletti said. It can
be used either on greige products or on finished products.

systems, total easy care wool apparel, Basolan pad applicator.
Andar and Woolmark have combined capabilities, technologies and collective
expertise in wool processing to provide innovative solutions to the industry.
Already well established in early-stage wool processing, Andar has extended
its expertise within the woollen and worsted systems to include aspects of
downstream processing; including sliver, yarn, fabric and carpet production.
Apparel fibers are a key focus of ANDAR's developments.
Total Easy Care shrink-resist treatment is a key component of the Andar portfolio
of systems. Supported by 30 years of experience in wool shrink resist from
Woolmark, wool garments can be created that stand up to the rigorous demands
required from consumers who want easy-care garments that are machine washable
and able to be tumble dried.
Also driven by consumer demand is the Basolan 88 treatment, developed by The
Woolmark Company, to enable spinners to produce yarns with improved handle,
which offer greater color intensity and luster.
Andar's Optim process reduces the diameter of wool fibers by 3 microns,
providing fibers that meet the increasing demand for quality, lightweight
multi-seasonal wear. The process enhances the natural properties of wool to
create a luxury, lustrous fiber that is soft, yet strong, the company said.
The company also is developing processes within the woollen route that allow
upholstery and carpets to be manufactured with superior performance. Advanced
fiber treatments, including chemically modified fibers and fire retardant
applications, are also areas of development undertaken by Andar and their
industry partner Wool Research Organization Of New Zealand (WRONZ).
The launch of Tru-Trac, a patented technology invented by WRONZ to eliminate
shading (or pile reversal in wool carpets), has generated a lot of interest.
The company's third focus, effluent treatment for textile applications,
is not a new one, but one where significant advances are being made. Andar
has taken technology from effluent treatments towards a zero discharge process,
which includes solids recovery and composting processes.

BTSR International
Hall: 1
Stand: SP1-10A
Country: Italy
Sector: Spinning
Contact person: Scott Yates (U.S.)
Web site: www.btsr.com
Show focus: Yarn cleaners, yarn break detectors, warp stop motions, weft stop
motions and feed wheel units will be on display by the company, which is represented
in the U.S. by PAF Sales, Greensboro, NC.
BTSR has recently launched a range of products with particularly innovative
technology and application characteristics for the textile sector.
Among products is a yarn feeder called KTF100RW, designed for yarn preparation
machines. This system is born from the experience gained with the KTF/100HP
yarn feeder and is mainly aimed at being applied on yarn preparation machines
such as winding machines, doubling machines, cop winders, reeling machines
and so on.
The substantial difference between it and the KTF/100HP feeder is found in
the fact that while the KTF/100HP unites the control electronics, the tension
sensor and the yarn feed motor in a single physical device, the KTF/RW system
has a modular structure made up of separate elements that allow maximum freedom
of installation, configuration and so on, according to the specific needs
for the machine.
The KTF/RW systems (Constant Tension Feeder ReWinder) are precise measurement
and control instruments that can display the exact tension of the yarn in
real time and use precise regulation to guarantee constant tension of the
yarn itself under any working condition, BTS said.
This occurs regardless of the speed at which the textile machine is operating
and the yarn tension is maintained constantly, even when the natural tension
of the package tends to vary over time due to environmental conditions such
as humidity, temperature, etc.
The KTF/RW systems are completely programmable, meaning they can be adapted
simply to any type of yarn or tension regulation, BTSR said.
Another novelty that has recently been proposed by the Lombard company is
Smart Clearer, created for use on yarn preparation machines. In this type
of application, it is imperative that any malfunction occurring with the yarn
should be detected quickly, the relative position should be stopped and the
error conditions signalled.
The task of detecting malfunctions is assigned to the BTSR sensors from the
ISSC series. The sensor detection characteristics are: knot, yarn tangles,
thick or thin places in the yarn, insufficient yarn, too much yarn, no yarn,
yarn flow speed and activation delay, depending on the type of yarn being
processed.
The Smart 200TSS, another product, was also designed and made for installation
on textile machines for yarn preparation. In this type of application, any
malfunction occurring with the yarn must be detected quickly, the relative
position should be stopped and the error conditions signalled.
The task of detecting malfunctions is assigned to the BTSR sensors from the
TS5 series.
The Smart 200 TSS system is composed of a control unit/PLC and of a variable
number of type sensors. The Tension Smart Scanning Sensor (TS5) can be used
for precise measurement and analysis of the yarn on the textile machine.

Cognis
Hall: 8
Stand: DC8-3D
Country: Germany
Sector: Dyestuffs & Chemicals
Contact person: Gero Reichert
Web site: www.cognis.com
Show focus: Cognis will be exhibiting its most recent products and concepts
for the fiber, pre-treatment and finishing industry. Focus includes the Skintex
Care System, Microban® Antibacterial Protection, Superclear® X-TRA,
Colette System. Machinery includes the Seclarin® DOS-CON, ILDTM
Inline Dosing System.
With the Skintex Care System, clothing that has been treated with Skintex
contains vitamins that relax the skin and supply it with needed moisture.
Depending on the active ingredient, these clothes when worn can prevent the
formation of cellulite, delay hair growth on the legs or encourage the skin
to turn brown spontaneously.
Cognis' Skintex Care System is based on micro-capsules. The core of these
consists of active ingredients, which are surrounded by a natural polymer.
In cooperation with Microban Int., Ltd., Cognis offers a broad range of products
and services for built-in freshness and care in textiles with the Microban
Antibacterial Protection technology. Microban is built in during the normal
manufacturing process and keeps textiles fresher and more hygienic between
washing, Cognis said. Incorporated into a textile, Microban Antibacterial
Protection continuously controls the growth of a wide range of odor-causing
and harmful bacteria on fabrics and textiles.
Superclear X-TRA, a new development for pigment coloring and printing, enhances
both the washing properties and resistance to rubbing of the material, as
well as the comfort of wearing the garment. Textiles that are colored or printed
with Superclear are exceptionally soft to touch, Cognis said.
At the same time there is a minimal use of auxiliary agents such as fixative
accelerants, fixatives or cross-linking agents in the printing paste. Cognis
said this yields economic benefits in the production process: the shorter
time needed to fix the pigmentation enhances the capacity of the fixation
machine, and so energy consumption is reduced.
The innovative Colette System makes it possible to selectively remove pectins
and to carry out desizing or polishing in a single working procedure. This
means that the costs of the process as a whole can be considerably reduced,
Cognis said. Compared to the traditional alkaline, a boiling-off process the
quantity of chemicals that are needed hence, also, the contamination
of the waste water is significantly less. Colette, a combination of
several enzymes, offers optimal results while having a minimum impact on the
environment.

Econtrol is a rapid and reliable method of dyeing a wide range of substrates.
It does not require steaming or curing and ensures high reproducibility and
excellent fixation, DyStar said. Econtrol was developed in conjunction with
Monforts and is based on the Thermex hot flue technology.
Fluidyer For rapid and reliable dyeing of carpets and pile. Fluidyer
technology from Küsters and quality dyes from DyStar help dye houses
achieve their aims faster, more economically and more reliably. This modern
unit allows color changes within seconds, thus raising productivity, the company
said.
Electrochemistry The electrochemical dyeing process, patented by
DyStar, has a range of technical, ecological and economic benefits: shorter
and more reliable processes, better reproducibility, lower effluent costs
and better quality articles, DyStar said.
This technology was developed in collaboration with Thies and the Institute
for Textile Chemistry and Textile Physics of Innsbruck university in Dornbirn,
Austria. It is suitable for Indanthren vat dyes, indigo and cassulfon sulphur
dyes.
Electrochemical decolorisation of textile effluent another application
for electrochemistry is the decolorization of effluent. This technology does
not require chemicals or the disposal of residues. It is based on the principle
that electrons in an electric current split textile dyes into smaller, colorless
parts that are more readily biodegradable.

Show focus: The new yarn feeder Primo for any type of knitting machines; the
new pre-measuring winder Evolution for air-water jet looms; and the new weft
feeder Tecno for rapier weaving machines, needle looms, narrow looms.
The Primo yarn feeder, launched at the International Hosiery Exposition in
Charlotte, NC, in May, is suitable for use with any kind of circular, flat
and warp knitting machines.
It is a storage feeder that provides a regular supply of yarn to the needles
according to the speed of knitting and the requirements of the machine, according
to Giulio Motterlini, sales director of LGL. Previously, this was only available
through using a positive storage system, he added.
LGL said Primo can be used to accurately control the tension and rate at which
a wide range of different yarn types and counts are fed to the knitting head.
This allows manufacturers to produce high-quality uniform fabrics at high
speeds, Motterlini said.
Tension is controlled through LGL's innovative TWM (tension with modulation)
system, which is said to ensure extremely constant yarn tensions at lower
tension values than traditional devices.
Yarn is supplied at both uniform tension and uniform rate of feed, according

for loose stock, unwound tow/top slivers and yarns in hanks;
the TCRF thermo-controlled batch-type dryers for temperature-sensitive yarn
packages and tops in bump/bobbin form; and
the RF/T continuous drying and finishing equipment for woven fabrics.
The latest innovation applicable to all conveyorized dryers consists of a
specifically developed electronic card to control accurately the working parameters
of the RF generators. This card has also the function to improve further the
overall generator performance in terms of efficiency and reliability.
The electronic card has been integrated into a new, dedicated micro-controller,
complete with digital display (HMI), providing a user-friendly interface to
the operators more intuitive and easier to use compared to non-dedicated
PLC's generally available in the market, Stalam said.
Stalam's latest RF 100 kW model dryer will show the new, dedicated controller
incorporated into the unit.
Of particular note, Stalam is touting its new RF/C model dryer, a continuous-type
radio frequency dryer for yarn package columns.
The new equipment has a drying chamber constructed with fully screened product
inlet and outlet apertures, placed adjacent to each other at the front of
the dryer. The RF generator is conveniently located above the drying chamber.
In line with the apertures, the drying chamber is dotted with two pairs of
vertical electrode plates, such that the yarn package columns enter in the
first pair of electrode plates and return out through the second pair of electrode
plates.
The package columns are carried in and out from the drying chamber by a carousel
system, which is made up of a series of individual supports holding the columns
upright and at the same time sliding on lateral rails.
The drive system transfers the columns in stepped movements, where the pitch
of each step is 250 mm, corresponding to the maximum possible diameter of
the yarn packages. The step pace is adjustable according to the drying requirements
specific to the product such as: yarn type, package weight, moisture content,
etc.
The product loading and unloading station is located at the front of the dryer.
In this position the operator or a robotic handling device can
load the wet columns directly from the hydroextractor (with or without dye-spindles,
according to the dyeing and hydroextraction equipment in use) and unload the
dry ones to the finished product station.

The Sulzer G6200E machine will be weaving a fine and most delicate worsted
fabric at 600 rpm, thus demonstrating its superior textile competence at highest
insertion rates, Sultex said.
P7300 projectile
With projectile weft insertion almost any type of yarn can be woven
cotton, wool, silk, monofilament, multifilament, tapes, even hard fibers such
as jute or linen and even metal threads.
Sulzer Textil projectile machines match all of the textile industry's
quality and performance standards and guarantees faultless yarn processing
with the quality exceeding stringent customer criteria.
The Sulzer Textil P7300 has a capacity of up to 6 weft colors and is available
in 9 widths up to 540 cm. It can be equipped with PowerLeno and can also be
easily adapted to changing market requirements with upgrading kits.

All of these special weaving machines are derived from basic models with performance
criteria being defined together with the customer. The company will exhibit
the P7M RSP at ITMA to demonstrate the ability to produce heavy fabric styles
by weaving heavy sailcloth.
The M8300 Multi-Phase weaving machine is the most efficient way to produce
standard fabrics. The Sulzer Textil M8300 has productivity that is threefold
when producing simple standard fabrics with a weft insertion rate of 5500m/min
and a machine speed of 2800 picks/min. At ITMA this machine will be weaving
a dense twill style.

Country: Switzerland
Sector: Dyeing & Finishing
Contact person: Herbert Gübeli
Web site: www.treepoint.com
Show focus: The COLORMASTER color matching and quality control system, the
COLORMASTER recipe management system, the MORAPEX material control system
and the Flex dye liquor control system.
The COLORMASTER color matching and quality control system focuses on recipe
development, recipe correction and color communication.
The COLORMASTER recipe management system is the logical extension to colormatching
and quality control. It guarantees that the optimal recipe and process is
created for each batch, based on information coming from the dyestuff, as
well as from chemical suppliers and the user.
The MORAPEX allows for the control and analysis of raw or dyed material (woven,
nonwoven, knitted, yarn, fiber or garment) in minutes instead of hours, compared
to standard methods, Treepoint said.
Some typical MORAPEX applications include: pH measurement, control of wash
procedure, wash and water fastness checks, residual analysis (size, alkali,
acids, salts, peroxide, formaldehyde, etc.) conductivity analysis.
The FLEX dye liquor control system checks and corrects the dye liquor prior
to use in production. In practice, the FLEX system enables a dye liquor to
be checked in less than five minutes, Treepoint said.
The system bases its calculations on flexibly defined tolerance ranges to
produce a clear pass/fail evaluation of the tested liquor. This allows quick
and easy recognition of faulty liquor before dyeing process and thus saves
off-shade dyeing.
If the liquor corresponds correctly to the recipe or to a sample reference
liquor it is released for production. Otherwise, the FLEX system works out
correction proposals to put the faulty liquor right.
